[2006-09-09] FC St. Pauli vs Bayern Munich [V]

Postby MUTU on Sun Aug 20, 2006 10:52 am

Bayern will be playing St. Pauli in the first round of the German Cup at 8:15pm (CET). It's a pretty easy encounter on paper, though sometimes teams like this are a tough nut to crack. To note that last season they actually made it to the semifnal where they came up against Bayern. Bayern won 3-0 that day, so St. Pauli will be out for revenge this time round :)

The underdogs always put up a fight, especially against big name teams. Sweet they're playing a day before my birthday.

I'm really looking forward to this match. Van Bommel and Podolski should start for Bayern for the first time. For Van Bommel, it will be his debut match as well. And with Deisler well on his way to recovery, we'll start getting a better idea of the package we have until, well, the January transfer window.

Hi guys. DSF just reported that Kahn will not play in this match I did not get the reason why but it seems that this is a suspension from the DFB  . Anyone heard something !!!!

Then it's confirmed. :x
It's because it is alleged that he had engaged in unsportsmanlike behaviour towards the Eintracht Frankfurt fans in last season's Cup final at the Berlin Olympic Stadium on 29 April.

So it will be up to Rensing now.

That's too bad. Kahn always had a bit of a.. temper. How come it took a year for the DFB to take action? I find that odd.
Rense should do pretty well, knock on wood.

It's true, it's a bit of a short notice. But then, I believe we have what it takes to beat St Pauli, with or without Kahn :)

My prediction still remains a 2-0 win for Bayern.
