Sosa out for six weeks!
Unlucky newcomer José Ernesto Sosa will be out of action for Bayern over the next
month and a half after the Argentine schemer underwent surgery on an ankle
problem at the beginning of the week.
Sosa, who finally returned to first team duty following a back injury with a brief
appearance two minutes before the end of Sunday’s 1-1 draw in Hamburg,
frequently complained of pain in his right ankle over the last few weeks.
The player suffered stretched ankle ligaments during the pre-season period.
A detailed medical revealed the discomfort was caused by the presence of bone
and cartilage splinters, now surgically removed by Dr Seebauer at Bogenhausen
municipal hospital. If Sosa’s recovery proceeds according to plan, the 22-year-old
could return to contention in time for the Bavarians’ Bundesliga trip to Bochum on
20 October.
Sosa arrived at Bayern in the summer from Argentine top flight outfit Estudiantes de La Plata.
The attacking midfielder has made two short appearances in the Bundesliga to date,
plus another substitute run-out in the first round DFB Cup tie away to Burghausen,
where he saw his spot-kick in the penalty shoot-out saved by Wacker keeper Manuel Riemann.
