[2008-02-10] Bayern Munich vs Werder Bremen

Postby tracylynn on Sun Feb 03, 2008 9:06 pm

This game will be a test for Bayern. They have 13 players out this week due to international duty so hopefully no one will come back injured. Also, lets hope that they are not too tired to play on Sunday.

Werder Bremen lost to Bochum today. I can see Werder being pretty motivated for this game since they lost at home. Lets hope Bayern is pretty motivated since they are playing at home.

Haha great options for the poll Tracy, that's the optimism I like to see. I think this is gonna be a goal fest, like 6-3 or something. I'm sure Bremen will be hella motivated since they lost today, but the ramifications of this game are so huge that there's no way Bayern will lose with the Allianz behind them. I'm gonna stop now so that I don't start drooling on my keyboard thinking about this game, I'm pretty psyched!

I do think Werder will be more motivated than us since they lost home and there is the 3 points gap now. It will be a very interesting game to watch and i hope that bayern will score some goals 'coz Werder will do. Other than that FC BAYERN MEISTER ! :)

Thanks!!

This game is very important for Bayern because this game could set the tone for the rest of the season. Hopefully, Bayern will come out with all cylinders firing. I would like to see Bayen score more than 2 goals and hold Werder to no goals because that would be very uplifting for the team. They need to get back to the way they were playing in the first half of the season and get farther ahead of their opponents.

I voted a win but I'm not optimistic...Ribery will not play and that is as bad for Bayern as it would be for Bremen if Diego would not play (but he will)...

yeah Ribery is out...but I am sure the best result Werder can get is a draw. Only if Ribery played....let's wait and see.

Yeah it's looking like Ribery is out, which is obviously a blow. It's even more essential that no one gets injured in the friendlies tomorrow now...hopefully the other wingers can step it up! This is a great opportunity for the rest of them to prove who deserves to be in the team, let's hope they take it. I still think Bayern will win.

Leverkusen and Hamburg drew yesterday, which means that if we win, we go 6 points clear!

You can watch the match live on several different channels:

SIPTV, CCTV5, BWIN, GOLTV, Sports Channel 2, Channel 4, Truesports 3.

I would choose GOLTV. For more info visit: http://www.myp2p.eu/broadcast.php?match ... art=sports

FT Score: Bayer 1-1 Bremen

Too many fouls in this game but at least the match was exciting to watch. In total 9 players were booked, 4 of them Bayern players. At the end I think it was the right result.

First half was really exciting, with great goals by Diego and Ze Roberto. I think everyone played well, with the exception of Klose, he disappeared from the game.
MVB and Ze were great IMO. Podolski should've been sent in earlier, he showed what he can do with his pace again coming on the left.
The second half the tempo sort of went down and the game became more of a "come get your yellow card in midfield" contest, pretty much everyone got booked...

While I was entertained, I have to say I'm disappointed. Sure a player like Toni has to be making PKs, but I just think a lot more should've been done with the ball at our disposal. I felt that the team was relying on lofted passes rather than keeping on the ground, keeping it simple. This team would be better if they did the simple things right every time. They put some awesome plays together and usually score from them but it's unrealistic to be trying to do that all the time with the personnel at hand. I feel like they'd score a lot more goals if they weren't always seemingly looking to play the most difficult ball available.
On the plus side, we're still 3 clear which is great. Poldi looked ok too, wish we could've seen more of him. Perhaps we will against Aberdeen, who LOST 5-1 AT HOME today. Hopefully we'll really get the rest of the season up and kicking in Scotland.
