Players leaving at the end of this season?

Postby mackoy on Fri Apr 18, 2008 11:43 am

Some time ago Hoeness said that Bayern will offload one or two players at the end of the season to keep the squad small. I agree with him, the smaller the squad the better the team spirit and team chemistry. I personally think the max number of players should be 22.
So who do you think is going to leave?

    Oliver Kahn (retiring)
    Bernd Dreher (re-retiring possibly)
    Jan Schlaudraff (unfortunately very possible)
    Julio Dos Santos (possible)
    Daniel Van Buyten (possible)

So from the current squad of 25 players (including Kroos, Furstner and Dos Santos), subtracting the number of players leaving (5) and adding the new addition Borowski (1) = 21 players for the new season.
Conclusion: we need another player. :P

Definites:
Oliver Kahn
Bernd Dreher

Very possible:
Jan Schlaudraff
Juio Dos Santos

I think Ottl might also be on the way out, considering the arrival of Borowski and possibly Flamini, Deco or Gattuso. Van Buyten has insisted he wants to see how it works out under Klinsmann.

Since he just signed a new contract, I think Ottl will go out on loan, provided Flamini, Deco, or whoever comes in. I don't think the club would have given him a new contract just to sell him a few months later, he's not worth THAT much.

We can add Lahm now too. So the total players possibly (some of them defenitley) leaving is 6.

Lahm is not definitely leaving at the end of this season. Bayern have already said that if he does not extend, they will keep him next season. Unless, of course, a club comes along with a mega offer for him. Who knows, perhaps Klinsmann will convince him to stay.

i've heard ze said he wants to go to the mls for a year before he retires and he is getting close to retirement, so he might also leave, unfortunately.

So Lahm will stay after all. Here's the situation for now:-

Definitives:

Oliver Kahn (retiring)
Bernd Dreher (retiring)
Jan Schlaudraff (Hannover 96)

Possible:

Julio Dos Santos
Daniel Van Buyten

Schweini will saty which I don't understand becasue when he has played well this season (which was rare) he played like a decent bundesliga pro. Why place this belief in someone that looses the ball in midfield and makes terrible decisions frequently.
