French defender Silvestre and goalkeeper Foster have been sidelined by knee injuries since August and May respectively, with the latter still yet to make his senior Manchester United debut.
But, after hearing that both Paul Scholes and Gary Neville are very close to full comebacks, Sir Alex Ferguson was pleased to hear the added good news.
"Mikael's actually doing some of his recovery in France," the Red Devils boss said.
"That's not a problem as far as we're concerned because he's such a dedicated professional and he'll get the work done.
"Ben's also coming along fine and he's doing some goalkeeping work now. But we have to be careful with him. The specialist's assessment is that because it was a graft into the knee - he'd injured his cruciate before - we have to stick rigidly to the plan of almost a year out of action." |

Manchester City manager Sven-Goran Eriksson has targeted Real Zaragoza striker Diego Milito after failing to sign Lukas Podolski from Bayern Munich.
Having loaned out Rolando Bianchi to Lazio just six months after signing the Italian forward, Eriksson finds himself short of firepower up front and is determined to sign Milito before the transfer window closes a week today.
Zaragoza value Milito at £18 million and will demand every penny if they are to allow the Argentinian striker to leave mid-way through their season.
One major stumbling block to the deal is the fact the Spanish club have recently appointed a new coach.
Ander Garitano resigned on Tuesday citing personal reasons and has been replaced by Javier Irureta, who will be loath to lose his most prolific striker.
Milito is widely considered the third-best out-and-out forward in Spain behind Ruud van Nistelrooy and Samuel Eto'o, and has scored 51 league goals in 93 games since joining from Genoa in 2005.
Should Eriksson ultimately prove unsuccessful in his bid to lure Milito to Eastlands he will turn his attentions to Sevilla's Fabiano.
The 27-year-old Brazilian striker is valued at £9m, and said: "I've had an offer which is higher than £8m for me and a good offer for far more wages." |

The Independent
*Stoke could enquire about a loan move for striker Marlon Harewood after Villa manager Martin O'Neill admitted the forward will struggle to get regular games at Villa Park. "He has to get past Gabby Agbonlahor, who's been brilliant," O'Neill said. "And John Carew is the perfect foil for Gabby."
*Zurab Khizanishvili has signed a three-year deal with the Ewood Park side. The 26-year-old Gerogia captain joined Rovers permanently in 2006 from Rangers. He is now under contract until 2011 and will hope to improve on his appearance record this season, as he has played just nine times.
*Gerald Cid has criticised the training regime at the club after joining Nice earlier this month. "People say I was mad to leave," he said. "But as soon as the door was open I did not give it thought. I worked less during training than I ever did in France. To me training sessions are important if you want to improve, and that was not going to happen."
*Czech international Petr Cech believes the club can reach the final of the Champions League this season. The Blues have been beaten semi-finalists in three of the past four campaigns but Cech believes his team can go one better this year. "We want to reach the final this year," he said. "We definitely have the potential to make it."
*The midfielder Mile Sterjovski has been granted a work permit and has become the Rams' sixth signing of the transfer window. "He will make a fantastic addition," manager Paul Jewell said of the 28-year-old, who joins from Genclerbirligi. "I am delighted with the decision."
*Tim Cahill believes David Moyes can lead the club to "something special" in the League this season – Everton currently lie fourth in the table. "He is a great manager and has done very well," the midfielder said. "He is building something special. He can see a goal and we are all part of this."
*Fulham last night completed the signing of the United States striker, Eddie Johnson. The 23-year-old leaves Kansas City Wizards for a three-and-a-half-year deal after his application for a work permit was successful yesterday. He joins new arrivals Leon Andreasen and Brede Hangeland.
*Defender Alvaro Arbeloa and striker Andrei Voronin will both miss this weekend's FA Cup fourth-round tie with Havant and Waterlooville. Arbeloa limped out of Monday's 2-2 draw with Aston Villa with an abdominal problem while Voronin injured an ankle in training yesterday.
*Manager Alex Ferguson has challenged midfielder Cristiano Ronaldo to score 30 league goals this season. The Scot believes he will reach that figure in all competitions but has set the more testing target. "It is a big ask," he said of the Portuguese. "But if he does manage it, I'll pay him more money."
*Mido continued his recovery from a pelvic injury by playing 45 minutes for the reserves against Newcastle on Tuesday night. "It was the next step up from training," manager Gareth Southgate said. "It was good to see him back on the pitch. When he returns it will give us a lift."
*Milan Baros is deciding whether he wants to move to Fratton Park on loan after manager Harry Redknapp confirmed his interest in the Lyons striker. "Milan is still hesitating," agent Pavel Paska said. "He will make his decision within this week or, at the very latest, the beginning of next week."
*Royals manager Steve Coppell said he has hopes of making more signings before the transfer window closes in a week's time. "We've got a number of targets," he said. "If someone becomes available we'll make a move. But those players are not quite as available as we'd like."
*The Black Cats last night completed the signing of Sweden international Rade Prica for £2m. The striker joins from Aalborg AB, where he finished top scorer in the Danish League last season. The 27-year-old becomes manager Roy Keane's fourth signing of the transfer window.
*Radek Cerny has admitted he would be keen to explore a move to Queen's Park Rangers following interest from the Championship club this week. "Considering my contract is up in the summer I must be looking for a different club," he said. "If QPR were it then I would go there."
*Julien Faubert will prove to be a valuable addition to the Hammers' team, striker Carlton Cole believes. "The whole team will benefit when he starts," Cole said. "He's quick, he's fast and that's what the squad needs." The Frenchman ruptured his achilles in July and had to wait until earlier this month for his debut.
*The Latics have received international clearance for new signings Erik Edman and Maynor Figueroa and the defenders will now be available to make their debuts in the FA Cup fourth round tie with Chelsea this weekend. Kevin Kilbane had previously been filling the left-back slot following Leighton Baines' transfer to Everton last year. |

DEAN Ashton is said to be top of new Newcastle manager Kevin Keegan’s shopping list.
Keegan is keen to bolster his forward line with a strong frontman to play alongside Michael Owen or Obafemi Martins.
West Ham are unlikely to want to let the 24-year-old go, but Newcastle are thought to be offering an initial £7million bid for the former Crewe man.
That is the same fee Arsenal will offer for goalkeeper Robert Green.
Arsene Wenger wants Green to rival Manuel Almunia for the number one jersey at the Emirates with Jens Lehmann not in the Arsenal manager’s good books. |

Sir Alex Ferguson has welcomed Ryan Giggs' enrolment on a key coaching course and indicated he could have a future role to play at Manchester United.
Giggs is due to start studying for his UEFA 'A' licence under the control of the Football Association of Wales in Aberystwyth in June.
At 34, Giggs is United's most-decorated player and he marked his 100th Champions League appearance by helping the club to a 1-1 draw in Lyon in midweek... Daily Mail |

Ronaldo Shocker: Blatter Is Right
Cristiano Ronaldo is said to have told Portuguese station TVI that he agrees with Sepp Blatter's comments regarding the treatment of modern footballers, adding that he has not yet come to an agreement with Real Madrid...
The winger is reported to have said that he agrees with FIFA president Sepp Blatter, who earlier controversially claimed that footballers were treated as modern day slaves, adding that Ronaldo should be allowed to leave if it is his personal desire.
The full TVI interview in which Ronaldo made this declaration, along with his desire to play for Real Madrid, is set to be aired this evening at 2000 BST. We will provide quotes from the interview first here at Goal.com.
No deal - yet
Meanwhile, Madrid-based sports daily As claims that Ronaldo himself is confident that his move to the Spanish capital will be completed sooner rather than later.
Apparently Ronaldo sought to allay the blancos' fears that his ankle operation and plans to return to Manchester would see to it that a move is in jeopardy.
The paper states that the player has communicated to Madrid his thoughts via his agent, Jorge Mendes, and an SMS text message. Translated, the text read: "Relax: I've taken care of everything."
12 weeks
The Portuguese international added that, following his ankle operation, he will be out of action for up to 12 weeks.
Lol @ slave. I thought slave means someone who is owned by somebody else and make him work all they long without giving him a penny. Ronaldo does not work all day long and for nothing. He gets paid 120000 sterlings a week. First the players sign long contracts with the club and then they don't keep to the contract. Basically contracts don't count anymore. |

| Yeah, Blatter's an asshole. I really hate this guy, I think he was saying something about how "as a footballer" he feels for Ronaldo...yeah Swiss amateur league in the 50s makes you a serious footballer. Just like Tommy Smyth. (You Americans know who I'm talking about!) I can't believe the president of FIFA comes out and says something like this, I mean Blatter has always sucked but this really pisses me off. I think he went to business school too, you'd think he knows something about contracts, apparently not. Retarded. And I'm not even a United fan! |

| What is the point of having a contract if the player should be allowed to leave whenever he wants to? Is it to have an agreement in writing of the salary the player should get? Doesn't Blatter realise that modern day footballers are being more pampered than the Queen of England? |

| Haha I'm with you on the cokie mouse comparison, and he's good for a laugh, but what I meant was that Blatter is only as qualified (maybe even less) as him to do/say anything about football. I'm not saying that I'm the oracle or that I should be president of FIFA or anything, but surely even Tommy wouldn't say anything as retarded as the "slaves" statement. And Tommy has made an ass of himself plenty of times on the air, so that's saying something! |
